Have you ever met a celebrity and found them to be rude, self-centered, or nothing like you thought they would be? I have a few, but I will not mention names here. Well, in recent months I have met a YouTube celebrity on Twitter and was blown away by his humble, down to earth, and pleasant demeanor.
Being a huge fan I wanted to let them know without coming across as a weirdo or a stocker type. I am sure they have their fair share of those types. I Know I do an author. I actually had a real life stalker, he is in prison now. Anyway, I digress. Back to the story at hand.
As I was saying as a fan it was an enormous pleasure getting to not only meet SomberReads but getting to know him a little bit. Somber is new to the YouTube horror family. In fact, this month will be his 1stanniversary of his channel, Congrats Somber! In his first year he has built an amazing channel with some pretty awesome content. He has also managed to pull in nearly 2,000 subscribers! That is rare in your first year! The fact that his numbers keep climbing tells me Somber will be around as long as he chooses to be!
For you fans out there who would like to know a little bit more about Somber you will be happy to know I have the inside scoop…in his own words!! It will cost you though! You will have to subscribe to his channel if you have not already! Do we have a deal? Alright then, here you go.
Me: Somber can you tell the fans a little bit about yourself, like what inspired you to become a YouTube creator/narrator?
Somber: “Can I just run with this?”
Me: Sure
Somber: “Growing up I was never into horror, although my siblings and mother are horror fanatics. I remember my first dose of horror was when I was 8. I woke up in the middle of the night to see my sister watching the Evil Dead (I was afraid of cellars for years) as soon as the woman popped out of the cellar I was frozen. From that point on I made a constant effort to eliminate my fear of horror!
I wish I could pin point one person that expired me to start narrating but there are just so many. I used to let horror movies play on my phone while I slept, until one day I came across a channel MrCreepyPasta! Ever since then, I was hooked! I went from MrCreepyPasta to CreepsMcpasta to Creepypasta Jr and the list goes on! I've always considered narrating but always had that fear of that if I'm not liked?
That constant nagging fear of not being accepted. I'd tell myself, hey I always have next year. Until 4 years later. I saw Dark Somnium made a video on how he narrates and I was immediately hooked! I downloaded all of the programs needed and would sit in my closet for hours just trying to perfect my voice! Then the feeling came back, of what if I'm not liked. I pushed it out another few weeks, until Creepy Ghost Stories mentioned something about just doing what you love and not regretting anything in a Livestream. That resonated with me so deeply that I just decided to upload my first video. The rest is history.”
So there you have it folks! I can relate to his fears. I think we all fear rejection and have our self-doubts. I am so grateful he got over it because his channel is awesome! So much so I wanted to do a feature on him!
I would personally like to thank SomberReads for allowing me to make him the featured Creator for March/April, and for taking the time to share a little bit about himself with all of us! If he is willing I will continue to update you on his channel, and whatever projects he has in the works in my blog!
Thank you all for your love and support! Be sure to stop by SomberRead’s channel. Tell him Donovan sent you!!
God bless!
Donovan
